UC's PACE Internship is a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programme for all our students. From research and analysis to writing and research, PACE interns offer expertise in a wide range of areas. If your organisation needs some help, find out how to partner with the PACE Internship Programme.

HOW TO APPLY

The PACE Internship Programme is a Work-Integrated Learning programme. PACE is available to students of any degree or discipline across the university. Students are encouraged to bring fresh perspectives, innovative approaches, and "next-gen knowledge" from their academic studies to your workplace or organisation.

Benefit from our interns' expertise

PACE听interns can offer expertise in a wide range of areas including (but not limited to):

  • Research and analysis
  • Media, communications and social media
  • Writing and research
  • Social and political research
  • Computer science
  • Archiving
  • Digital humanities
  • Marketing
  • Creative arts
  • Science and more
How internships work

Students accepted into PACE internship programmes work for a business or organisation for 70 or 140 hours in relation to a specific project. Whilst most internships are based in Christchurch, internships in other parts of New 九州影院and globally can be arranged.

There are three intakes each year:

  • Semester 1 (February - June)
  • Semester 2 (July - October)
  • Summer (November - December or November - February depending on the course and/or hours required by the student)

Students typically work for one or two days per week over a 15-week semester period (as mutually agreed). The Summer period is condensed into either a 5-week or 10-week period.

Each internship has measurable milestones and agreed-upon outcomes that suit you and your organisation.听 Alongside the internship, students attend workshops which help them to reflect on what they are learning, and focus on their personal and professional development.听

How you can benefit

Interns can:

  • Provide support for your organisation鈥檚 current projects,
  • Expedite wish-list projects, or
  • Do research to support future projects.

We work with businesses, community and voluntary organisations, local and central government, NGOs and cultural and sporting organisations. We can work with you to develop individual internships or facilitate larger group internships.

What you offer

In taking on a PACE intern, you are helping shape tomorrow's leaders. Your input becomes an integral part of a student's transition from university to the workplace. And sometimes - your intern may even become your employee upon graduation.

If this doesn't seem like the right fit, UC offers a range of business partnership opportunities that could benefit your organisation.
